Summer 2018 Report

Greetings from the Animal Defense Partnership

Over the past few months, The Animal Defense Partnership (ADP) has been hard at work fighting animal suffering and abuse. Here are a few examples of what we’ve been up to:

Nosey the Elephant: Nosey has spent more than three decades in inhumane captivity as part of a roadside zoo. ADP was asked to assist In Defense of Animals (IDA) and Save Nosey Now (SNN) in their successful efforts to free Nosey, who now lives in peace at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.  We are currently working with IDA and SNN to accomplish the same for Asha, an elephant who is languishing in deplorable conditions at Virginia's North Bridge Zoo.  Through the ADP Weeping Elephant Project, we will continue our collaborations and work on behalf of isolated elephants across the country.

GFAS: We are partnering with The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries both in supporting GFAS’s own legal needs, and in being available to the 160 sanctuaries GFAS accredits around the world.  GFAS accredits and supports capacity building for animal sanctuaries, rescues, and rehabilitation centers for equine, wildlife, and farm animals.

Brighter Green: ADP has worked with Brighter Green to develop an Anti-Harassment and Discrimination policy.  Brighter Green is a New York City based public policy action tank committed to equity and rights; raising awareness; and encouraging policy action on the environment, animals, and sustainability in the US and internationally.  We will be working with other animal charities on developing their own Anti-Harassment and Discrimination policies, which are essential in today’s workplace.

Providing Value to Animal Charities: Since its inception in 2016, ADP has provided free legal services worth more than $650,000 to animal protection organizations around the world. Our goal in serving as full service, pro bono lawyers, is to enable these charities to devote more of their often limited resources to fighting institutionalized cruelty and abuse of farm animals, wildlife, and companion animals.

  • Friends of Chimps Interview: Our co-founder, David Ebert, was interviewed by the wonderful people at Friends of Chimps, an ADP client that is committed to care and conservation of chimpanzees worldwide. You can read the interview here.

Our work on behalf of animals in need would not be possible without your support. And with your help we can do even more. Please consider donating to ADP today.

Sincerely,

David, Joel, Allan, and Dylan
