Although I had seen leaflets handed out on my college campus and heard animal rights messages in the past, the documentary The Ghosts in Our Machine is what first deeply moved me. I really like this documentary because I think it does a good job of balancing the horrors of systemic animal abuse with the inspiring stories of animals who have been rescued and are now living happy and healthy. The juxtaposition of the gruesome reality with examples of how beautiful our relationships with animals could be really motivated me to face the truth and finally change my actions.
